Adoption is a complex legal process which requires a lawyer with extensive knowledge and the experience to be able to help prospective adoptive parents and birth parents clearly understand their rights and obligations and ensure all legal requirements are met. We are involved in all legal aspects of the adoption process and have extensive expertise in agency adoptions, relative adoptions, out of province adoptions and foreign adoptions, as well as contested adoptions.
We are also one of the few law firms in the province which provides Reproductive Technologies law services, with considerable experience in the preparation of surrogacy contracts, embryo donation contracts and egg and sperm donor contracts, as well as declaration of parentage applications.
Larry Kahn, the partner responsible for our Adoption and Reproductive Technologies practice, has over 30 years experience in the adoption field. He is one of the leading authorities on adoption and reproductive technology law in the Province of British Columbia. Larry is a member of the Family Law subsection of the Canadian Bar Association, the Family Law subsection of the American Bar Association, including having served on the Reproductive Technologies subcommittee, and the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. He is frequently referred clients by various adoption agencies, other legal practitioners, as well as his many clients.
