Larry graduated from UBC Law School in 1971 and was called to the British Columbia Bar in May 1972. Larry has been practicing in Richmond since 1974, and is a founding partner at Kahn Zack Ehrlich Lithwick LLP.
Larry has practiced exclusively in the area of Family Law for over 35 years. As part of his family law practice, Larry has substantial experience in adoption and reproductive technology law. Larry has also been a family mediator for over 30 years, and has conducted family law arbitrations for 15 years. He is designated as a Chartered Mediator, and a Chartered Arbitrator by the ADR Institute of Canada, and a Certified Family Arbitrator by the B.C. Arbitration & Mediation Institute (BCAMI). Larry is also accredited as a Family Law Mediatior, Family Law Arbitrator and Parenting Coordinator by the Law Society of British Columbia. He has provided expert opinions to other family law lawyers and the bar. Larry has extensive appellate court experience and has provided expert testimony in complex fee disputes.
In 2008, Larry was appointed Queen's Counsel and a Justice of the Peace, adjudicating Small Claims cases.
Larry has been appointed as a Family Advocate to prepare reports for the Court. He has interviewed children with respect to parenting plans and making determinations. He has acted as a Parenting Coordinator and interviewed children on numerous occasions as part of this role. He has been retained to act as a Mediator/Arbitrator to resolve parenting disputes and in that role has interviewed children. Also, he has been retained to prepare Views of the Child Reports.
Larry is a member of the Canadian Bar Association – Family Law Subsection, the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys (AAAA), American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys (AAARTA), the American Bar Association (ABA) – Family Section, Association for Conflict Resolution, Association of Family Conciliation Courts, B.C., Mediator BC Society (Civil & Family), Family Mediation Canada and B.C. Hear the Child Society. He has chaired and is a frequent contributor to CLE programs, including the introduction to the Family Relations Act in 1980 and was a founding editor of the Family Law Agreement Manual.
Larry has listed since 2007 in the Canadian edition of the Best Lawyers in America. This publication is regarded as the preeminent referral guide to the legal profession in North America, with lawyers appearing in it having been recommended by their professional peers.
